Quail Hunting
Tussock Bay has some of the most beautiful and challenging quail hunting that may be found anywhere in Southeast Georgia.
We hunt through tall pines, along hedgerows, and across fallow fields. Our dogs are absolutely beautiful.
Forty years ago, when I was a child, Tussock Bay was a patchwork of small fields amidst long leaf yellow pines. My dad would take me out of school every Wednesday at noon to go quail hunting. I would hunt all day Saturday, just my dogs and me.
In those days, we hunted wild birds around small cornfields and in the creek bottoms. We started early and hunted all day. We walked then, and we still walk, hunting close behind my dogs. Hunting birds in Southeast Georgia was and still is a unique experience. Come let us share this experience with you!
Have you always dreamed of a traditional bird hunting experience? At Tussock Bay, an exclusive quail hunting plantation in South Georgia, you can have that experience. Our quail hunting excursions are carefully crafted to emulate the hunting experience of yesteryear. Deer Hunting
Tussock Bay consists of 800 acres of dense pine forest with cypress bays and hardwood bottoms.
Our management practices have produced quality trophy bucks within a large deer population. We feed our deer year-round with high protein supplements and quality food plots.
We provide a variety of deer hunting alternatives to fit the needs of our clientele. Whether you choose an experience that includes lodging and meals or a day hunt for you and your child, the beauty of our forest, the abundance of our game, and the quality of our service will be an experience enjoyed by all.
Moreover, probably the most desirable aspect of any Tussock Bay hunt is your exclusive access to the property and its activities. There will be no other parties with which to share amenities or the woods. You will be free to fully enjoy the fellowship of your party without outside interruption.
In addition, to provide the best hunting opportunity possible, we limit the number of days we hunt per month and the total number of hunting days per season. Once we meet these thresholds, we will not accept new bookings. So do not wait; book your hunt today!!
A harvest of 1 deer per day is permitted, not to exceed a total of 1 buck and 1 doe for any hunt of 4 days or less
If one harvests a second buck of any size, a $750.00 fee will apply
Unlimited wild hog harvested from tree stand (you clean 'em)
Bucks must be 8 points or better with a 16 inch inside spread unless the following applies:
Children 12 years old or younger accompanied by an adult may harvest a buck of any size between December 15 and season's end.
Seniors 65 years old or older may harvest a buck of any size between December 15 and season's end.
Deer season for the Southern Zone may be viewed at www.georgiawildlife.com. Our maximum hunt is four days. Although you may lodge for a longer period of time, we rest our woods so that the next party's experience is as exciting and successful as yours.
Generally, the earliest check-in is 2:00 PM. the day before a deer hunt, unless you are planning a half-day afternoon hunt, in which case you must check-in by noon. We prefer deer hunters to check in early. This allows you to meet your guide and discuss the upcoming hunt. We like to educate the hunter on the unique nature of the stand and woods in which he or she will hunt and answer any questions that may arise. We feel this process is especially helpful for our young or inexperienced hunters. You must therefore arrive early enough to discuss the safety and particulars of the hunt.

Turkey Hunting
In recent years, we have experienced a significant increase in the turkey population.
We have planted and groomed habitat for turkeys, and the effort has paid off. We now consistently see large gobblers with remarkable size, weight, and beard length. We limit the number of hunts every year so as to ensure the positive population trends continue. Book early, and let’s get a trophy!
Conditions of the Hunt
Your guide will call in your trophy gobbler, or you may call your own bird. If you shoot but do not harvest the bird, you will still be charged a harvest fee. Make your shot count. You may hunt with any legal firearm or bow.
Parent / Child Hunts
At Tussock Bay, we cherish memories of hunting with our Dad.
We all began hunting at a young age and thus continued hunting and enjoying the outdoors the rest of our lives. We want your child to have the most incredible and unique hunting experience possible. Most of all, we want you and your child to leave Tussock Bay with memories that will last forever. The following applies to parent-child hunts.
An experienced hunter must accompany all children 16 years old or younger
Children 17 years old and older may hunt alone provided a parent confirms the child's experience level and ability to do so
Children must adhere to Georgia law relating to child hunter safety
Only one firearm per parent-child pair
We will provide a guide to accompany any child whose parent is an inexperience hunter
No child will be permitted to hunt who has never fired a firearm and lacks a basic understanding of hunter safety. For these children, Tussock Bay may provide training and hunter safety classes for a separate reasonable fee. We will teach a child to safely handle and fire a firearm. We will prepare your child for the hunting experience. Parental participation in this process is mandatory.
